Shorts/Skirt: At first I decided to make shorts b/c I couldn't tell how
Kaoru's actual skirt was put together.
I used Simplicity 7196 which I wouldn't use again with PVC since the pattern
inclues pockets and would have been better with a flat front. (I ended up sewing the pockets shut)
For AnimeFest I finally made the skirt out of scraps of black PVC and purple tulle net.

Kimono: I used a simple kimono pattern (Butterick 6698) with the majority of it made
from black chiffon; which is difficult to sew because it's so light weight
and insubstantial. A tip for sewing chiffon is to pin the layers to tissue paper
before sewing, then tear it off and pick out anything that's left in the stitching.
For the trim I got some dark purple quilting cotton and covered it in the chiffon.
Corset: The corset I used came from Gallery Serpentine which I
highly recommend. Annette Magus does really nice work and for an
affordable price.
I changed the middle section later for AnimeFest 2006 by taking the
dark purple fabric and covering it in black tulle net. I just attached it with masking tape
in case I wanted to get it off later.
Collar: I made the collar for AnimeFest by cutting out a wide rectangle and bunching/sewing the fabric.
Misc.: I also made the belt out of PVC (I ran out of time to add the chain etc)
The platform knee-high boots from were from Goodgoth.
The short wig used was a Wisp wig in Dark Pink from Cosworx. Pics with long pink hair was my natural hair dyed using Special Effects hair dye.
